I have always accepted the fact that there are things in life which I can never do. These are monumental events and tasks that have defined people and carved history. Although anything conceived can be achieved, there are exemptions that must be swallowed hard. Perhaps I will never live any of these things, but at least I managed to dream them.

10. Being the US President..... Of course I am a not an American citizen and I don't have plans to be one. But becoming the most powerful man in the world has always been part of my wishes.

9. Doing a voyager impersonation..... Circling around the world with a ship is a daunting task. The hardest part of it is ensuring that the world is not big enough to be circled.

8. Acting for a heist movie..... After watching Ocean's 13, I kept on thinking the possibility of me being included in the film. Now we can already change the movie title to Ocean's 14.

7. Dating Princess Diana..... No one is perfect in this world. If there is anyone who will come close to the word perfection, then its Princess Diana.

6. Commanding one of Hitler's battalions..... Forget about the claim that Hitler was an anti-Christ. It is his war strategies that enamored me to guide his army.

5. Inventing a breakthrough innovation..... From the abacus to the computers, the world has never been the same again. I have always wanted to make something that will make life easy.

4. Investigating a global case..... It does not matter if I wok for FBI or CIA on this one. The most important thing is that I spearhead the team.

3. Playing in the World Cup Finals..... In this game I will score a hat trick. The most important goal will seal the game and allow me to lift the trophy.

2. Singing with the Beatles in a concert..... All I ask is five of my favorite songs to be sang by me with the greatest band of all time. I will; Here, there, and everywhere; The long and winding road; In my life; and Let it be.

1. Hitting a homerun at Fenway Park against the Yankees..... Here is the scenario, I am playing for the Red Sox and it is Game 7 of the ALCS, bottom of the 9th, no scores for both teams, 2 outs, nobody on, full count, with Roger Clemens on the mound. With a great swing, I drive the ball towards the Green Monster and the rest is history.

These go beyond hallucination. Indeed, these events will never happen even if I live 9 lifetimes. But it is a good thing that I came to fathom these moments. For that I have experienced greatness, and greatness no matter how brief stays with a man. Just Gene Hackman..... Sweet!!!

G-U-I-L-TY...... maybe not......

The trial of deposed President Joseph "Erap" Estrada has been a circus. It has been a source of contradictions or I would rather say it has been an oxyMORON. The prosecutor claims that victory is within their sights, but the evidences suggest otherwise. On the other hand, Erap was supposed to be in prison but instead he manages to attend most of his outside endeavors. Now that the verdict is about to be served, a lot of people are still thinking if our justice system can be objective and fair.

The nation is divided when it comes to the guilt of Erap. Here are the reason why Erap might be convicted and at the same time acquitted.

He will be convicted because:

The government will place its hand on the case. Of course President GMA will have her opinion heard.
It took 6 years to end the case. The prosecutors will be favored because they can pile up their evidences.
The Philippines is known for breaking records. This will be a classic proof of that statement.
The judges will be pressured by the possible repercussions of Erap's acquittal. It has to be remembers that these judges have ambitions that wrest on the administration.
Convicting Erap is easier because he can be reprieved in the future. Acquitting Erap, however, is a different story.

He will be acquitted because:

The evidence of the government is weak.
Having Chavit Singson testifying against Erap is a blessing for the former President.
The judges have no testicular fortitude to pull the trigger.
Erap will no longer regain the power that he had once.
The former President's legal team is just that good.

It is hard to predict the exact events that will transpire in relation to this case. Guilty or not, life will still go on for most of us. But isn't it better when our lives are lived in a soceity that promotes justice and equity. Sweet!!!

Today is Monday, and starting the week with a dose of politics seems to uplift my spirit. Last week, I made a rundown on the reasons why I will or will not vote. This time, I will provide the list of candidate who will and will never get my vote.

I will not vote.....

Mike Defensor..... The guy really likes to row a boat in two rivers. He appears to be competent, but his ass kissing attitude is scary.

Coco Pimentel..... Being a bar topnotcher is not an assurance of competence. But the most glaring barrier to his possible victory is his direct association with the elder Pimentel.

Sonia Roco..... Her comments on autism might ring a bell. On a clearer point, I am not voting her because she will just duplicate Loi Estrada.

Prospero Pichay..... Have you heard of his district being as prosperous as his name? If he can't do it on a local level, then a national position is unlikely.

Ralph Recto..... The EVAT was supposed to improve the economy. Well, as what I observe, the EVAT is an additional burden that diminishes buying power.

I will vote.....

Edgardo Angara..... No doubt Angara is a traditional politician. But among the candidates, he has passed the most significant laws.

Francis Pangilinan..... I am not voting him because he opted to stay independent. I am voting him because he is KC's stepfather.

Joker Arroyo..... Age does nor matter in politics according to some. Arroyo has figuratively and literally lived by this perception.

Francis Escudero..... There has to be someone who will inject new blood in the Senate. Among all the young candidates, Escudero's blood appears to be the most compatible.

Panfilo Lacson..... Throughout his career, Ping has been hounded by various controversies. But the man is tough and my best bet to instill integrity in the deteriorating walls of the Senate.

Of course this list will never materialize. But a hint will always help in making decisions. I may not be right, but at least I made a choice.

Farewell to the Unwell

For weeks, music enthusiasts and entertainment followers have been enamored by a guy named Sanjaya Malakar. The guy, despite the average voice, looks, and personality managed to survive several weeks before being eliminated. During the elimination show last night, Simon was sensing that something will happen after the bottom 3 was announced. His smile suggests that better days are ahead and he was right on target after Sanjaya was booted. With mediocrity written all over him, here is how Sanjaya managed to stay afloat.

10. The only way to be eliminated in the competition is to have the least number of votes. It favors contestants that get more attention from the judges.

9. Voting is usually decided based on favorites and not on who is the best singer. Definitely, contestants who have more following will succeed.

8. Performing several music genres can also provide some advantages. Even the best singers stink when out of their comfort zone.

7. A competition becomes more exciting when a mediocre remains in the hunt. It provides suspense which is important for the show's ratings.

6. Because Sanjaya regularly performed bad, the judging was shifted to some other aspects. Randy, for instance, looks at Sanjaya's hair than listen to the song.

5. Perhaps Sanjaya realized that his voice will never make him win American Idol. He compensated such weakness with other noticeable strengths.

4. Simon Cowell made Sanjaya famous. Allowing Sanjaya to stay will provide more interest to viewers as to what Simon will say after Sanjaya performs.

3. The tirades on Sanjaya over the media created an air of sympathy. Voters not particularly adept with judging good music based their votes on emotions.

2. Howard Stern publicly pushed for Sanjaya to win the American Idol. Stern was successful at first but ran out of support eventually.

1. American Idol is a competition. In any contest, underdogs can riseand take away the price from the expected winners.

Art: How come there was no extra rice?
Sam: I feel hungry....
Dundee: I got a picture with the resource speaker.....
Bert: Check out my haircut.....

Scene 2: Lost in Translation (queuing with hundred of people)

Art: What if I just took a bus?
Sam: My hunger is worsening.....
Dundee: I wonder if my picture with the resources speaker looks great.....
Bert: My new hairdo definitely rocks.....

Scene 3: Surprise, surprise (the entire MRT platform was full pf people)

Art: Do you think we can ride right away?
Sam: The hunger is killing me.....
Dundee: I think I made the right pose in the picture with the resource speaker.....
Bert: I took a work leave just to have this hair cut.....

Scene 4: The strategy (taking a southbound train instead)

Art: Can we just do a one round trip?
Sam: Now I am really hungry.....
Dundee: Next week I will suggest another photo shoot with the resource speaker.....
Bert: My hair will blow you away.....

Scene 5: Screw you! (being in a train exclusive for women is a bad idea)

Art: Are we in the wrong place?
Sam: I am losing my I.Q. with this hunger.....
Dundee: Maybe I can have a picture with the resource speaker in a different place.....
Bert: Stop, look, and envy my hair.....

Scene 6: Fools rush in (changing places means no place at all)

Art: Is there still enough room for us?
Sam: This hunger really sucks.....
Dundee: I am planning to frame my picture with the resource person.....
Bert: I am the king of the hair!

Scene 7: Refuge, finally (going home will take just one smooth ride)

Art: Can we switch places?
Sam: It will take 2 super meals to end this hunger.....
Dundee: I hope the resource person comes back next week.....
Bert: My hair saved the day.....

Scene 8: Conclusion

Art still questions,
Sam remains a hungry moron,
Dundee imagines his picture with the resource speaker,
Bert tries to show off his hair

This story appears to be weird. Indeed, the peculiarity of the characters' experiences sums up the entire account. Just try and read between the lines. You may find something of higher meaning.

Ranking the Great Pugilists

The victory of Manny Pacquiao proved that he is the alpha dog in the super featherweight division. Barrera is too old, Marquez appears to be legit though, and others are well below Pacquiao's abilities. I consider boxing as my favorite individual sport because of the physicality and bloodshed involved. Through the years of watching boxing matches, I have been enamored by some and captivated by many. Paquiao is one of the best, but let's see if he belongs to the greatest boxers that I have seen.

10. Marco Antonio Barrera..... He has the uncanny ability to make comebacks and get up while being down. Plus he has the coolest monicker in boxing - "The Baby Face Assasin".

9. Felix Trinidad..... Before he decided destroy his career by challenging Bernard Hopkins, King Felix was amazing. His unbeaten streak is well publicized including his win over De La Hoya.

8. Oscar De La Hoya..... After capturing Olympic Gold, De La Hoya slowly paved his legacy. Despite all the losses, he still managed to change the world of boxing.

7. Evander Holyfield..... It is hard to find a physically challenged boxer such as Holyfield who dominated his division. Unsurprisingly, he did it using his wits.

6. Joe Calzaghe..... The guy is one of the most underrated boxers I have seen. All he did was to defend his title 20 times and stay unbeaten after 43 fights.

5. Julio Cesar Chavez..... I was beginning to grasp the sport of boxing when Chavez was at his prime. He was mesmerizing crowds then and destroying opponents in his path.

4. Bernard Hopkins..... After spending time in jail and getting beat by Roy Jones, Hopkins quickly learned the ropes. At present he is a partner of Golden Boy and manages to win.

3. Lennox Lewis..... Defeating Mike Tyson cemented the career of Lewis. Even before that fight, he was such a monster in the ring.

2. Roy Jones, Jr..... Watch Roy Jones and you will definitely be entertained. He has the capacity to give opponents boxing lessons and give a whole lot of beating.

1. Mike Tyson..... If you plan to watch Mike Tyson fights, you have to be glued on the TV screen. Just one blink and you will miss the entire match.

I would like to extend my apologies to Floyd Mayweather Jr., Winky Wright, and Erik Morales. It is noticeable that Pacquiao is absent in the list. Well, he never was an undisputed champion, he never had a sterling amateur-to-prime career, and he is one-dimensional. There will come a day when Manny will become part of the best. If only he can focus on boxing and knockout his political ambitions.

To vote of not to vote.....

After a temporary hiatus, the legal two-time is back in business. This time, I have decided to make the posts more organized. At least readers can expect something for the day instead of the usual unpredictable discussions.

Since its Monday, I would like to discuss politics. The midterm election is approaching and I will provide reasons why I will and I will not vote.

I will not vote because.....

I am registered in a place miles away where I am currently residing. Technically, I will never be able to cast my vote.
There is a possibility that the election will be rigged. Wait a minute, the election will definitely be rigged.
The election has become highly commercialized. Since the campaign period, money has been flowing to create all election paraphernalia.
Based on the list of candidates provided by the COMELEC, it appears that the quality of candidates continue to dwindle. Just imagine choosing among entertainers, clowns, and traditional politicians.
Elections have passed and nothing significant has happened. This is why several voters have decided not to vote again.

I will vote because.....

I am a taxpayer. My payslip suggests that more than 2,000 Php goes to the government and a portion of it will be used for the elections.
Some of the candidates deserve the position they are aspiring for. Indeed, my vote will serve as an affirmation.
It is hard to imagine that the one vote I will contribute will affect the results. But weird things happen during such exercise.
The Philippine Constitution states that the right to suffrage is a privilege. Exercising such option is an act of conformity to state norms.
Perhaps the only legitimate way to promote change is through an election. Street protests will never push for change and other mechanisms will only make the situation worse.

Since I am not voting, my right to complain against the government is curtailed. To all voters, I have a suggestion that you can consider. Allow the past to affect you reflection, consider the present in making a manifestation, and weigh the future before making a decision.

Broad Sheets = Bored Shits?

I started reading dailies when I was 7 and I liked the idea of browsing through one of the most powerful tools mass media produced. But as my enjoyment for such activity increased, I slowly realized that the quality of newspapers was destined for deterioration. Definitely, there are several explanations to such observation and below is the list that justifies my vivid claim.

10. The swarming advertisements in newspapers are downright sickening. On Sundays, for instance, commercials instantly dominate the pages.

9. It appears that newspaper owners have started to learn the value of Economics. As the demand increases, prices will definitely follow.

8. Balance is an important aspect in delivering facts. Unfortunately, balance is a word that newspapers fail to recognize.

7. Among the different instruments that media hold, broad sheets continue to be hounded by bad marketing. It appears that the trend will continue for an undetermined period.

6. Distribution is always a key to succeed in the newspaper industry. Too bad places where airports are inexistent fail to read the headlines.

5. Most of the articles, based on my observation have become more partisan. Favorable news were auctioned and the highest bidder gets the nod.

4. Incompetent writers have become residents of newspapers. Even simple grammatical errors are left unchecked.

3. Newspapers tend to focus on several useless sections. The number of pages dedicated to entertainment greatly exceeds the pages allocated for more important aspects.

2. The existence of the Internet as a powerful substitute is evident. This easily explain the reasons why newspapers have shifted to the business side of media.

1. Since nothing interesting is happening, it is unimaginable to read any of the dailies. Indeed, it is a waste of effort and money.

Belting the 10th Octave

I have always been attracted to great singers. Looks never matter, but the voice definitely will. There are several artists that I admire because of their vocal prowess. Aside from the power singers, good old fashioned artists with angelic voices will fit in my list.

10. Carrie Underwood..... She looks like Reese Witherspoon and a classic country girl. Behind those looks, her voice melts my heart.

9. Norah Jones..... Her songs are masterpieces. The best thing about her is that she can cure my deficiency in sleeping.

8. Shania Twain..... The classic version of beauty with a voice. I like her when she wears sexy clothes and sing those country songs.

7. Kelly Clarkson..... America's darling can definitely sing. After winning the inaugural season of American Idol, she vindicated most of the people who voted for her.

6. Barbra Streisand..... Classic music and tunes are like flowers that eternally bloom. Indeed, Barbra is an all-around performer.

5. Celine Dion..... Voice power coupled with control is her main forte. She has mesmerized millions of hearts and those include mine.

4. Beyonce Knowles..... I have to say that she is the most complete artist aside Barbra Streisand. I have always wished that I am Jay-Z.

3. Charlotte Church..... This is where the angelic category falls in place. At the tender age of 13 she has already rocked my world.

2. Whitney Houston..... Her current problems will never overshadow the accomplishments she had made. Also, she is probably the best singer ever.

1. Christina Aguilera..... The most technically gifted singer alive. When she sings, life becomes profound and meaningful. Fascinating!

I realized that I made several omissions in my list. In this post, however, it is always my call. Period!

Nicks-10-Monickers

Although my name is unique is sucks big time. I had always wished my name was different, unfortunately its impossible (RA 9255 stinks). Through the years of immersing myself in front of the television, I have heard millions of nicknames. Perhaps I can list some of my favorites and let's see what's yours.

10. The Genetic Jackhammer..... This is Vince McMahon's creation and one of the finest in the business. This is superior complex at its best.

9. The Great Cornholio..... Beavis maybe dumb, but his alter ego is one of the coolest. Just add some caffeine, chocolate, and cola and your world will be rocked.

9. Two-and-a-half Man..... I have been an avid fan of this sitcom. It reminds me of the way we communicate at home and the communication creates the laughter.

8. Balakubak..... This is a segment in the show Nuts Entertainment. It is strangely funny and the lines are creatively delivered.

7. Jim Carey..... After 8 years of watching him, I finally realized that he is Canadian. Forget about the citizenship, this guy is a certified hit.

The NFL is in hibernation, the NBA is preparing for the playoffs, the MLB is knocking at the door, and the NHL is still NHL. Given these realities, it is time to highlight the most important event in March which is the madness created by college basketball. After picking my bracket busters, here are the possible team that will lift the crown when the madness is over.

10. Duke..... For a perennial contender, this is way too low. But judging at their season, the Blue Devils were inconsistent. The Dukies, however, are hard to underestimate especially at this point.

9. Pittsburgh..... This is a tough team to beat when they are on a streak. It is important for Aaron Gray to be consistent and for the others to follow his lead.

8. Oral Roberts..... Indeed, this team has a slim chance in winning it all. But March Madness is all about surprises and I am sensing that Oral Roberts will amaze the world.

7. Texas Tech..... Aside from the Oral Roberts, another team will make a surprise. I have this feeling that Tech will create some interesting situations.

6. Texas..... Before Durant will jump to the pro league, he has to make an indelible mark in the tournament. He has the stuff, but his teammates have to significantly contribute.

5. North Carolina..... The team is complete and can make a serious run in the tourney. But the team is in the toughest division so goodluck.

4. Florida..... The Gators are tough only after 7 players, which will impact their chances negatively as the tournament progresses. By the way, repeats are rare and Florida will fall early.

3. Ohio St...... Greg Oden is a rare specimen and Conley slowly evolves into a quality court general. Inexperience will be a key to success and the Buckeyes greatly lack that aspect.

2. Kansas..... Year after year, Kansas has been ranked high, but also fall short in the tournament. This year will be different and better results will be realized once Rush starts to assert his game.

1. Georgetown..... It has been a while since the Hoyas made some noise. Top-ranked teams are usually a tad short and G'town will take advantage of that situation.

Although these are just predictions, there are events that will definitely happen. There will be upsets, the best team will lift the crown, and basketball heroes will be made.

The training held last Saturday had its share of rants and raves. Although the rants are more compelling, this post is totally dedicated to the good side of the event. After all, it is fun that we seek and it was fun that we got.

10. Attending the training is better that staying at home and sleeping all day. Even on Saturdays, we have to be productive.

9. It is great to once in a while be separated from the realities in the workplace. The event was perfect to unload the burden.

8. Nature will always matter. So much for the smoke and noise that greet us before and after office hours.

7. Breaking that monotony is a cool thing. Doing it is a semi-far place with a suitable surrounding is cooler.

6. Perhaps it is the only time when I was able to play billiards, badminton, and basketball in the span of 2 hours. At least i was able to do some needed exercise.

5. Since several people were absent, there were spare food for the extra space in my stomach. Since I did some activities, abundant food is important to maintain the balance.

4. The activities were surprisingly fun. I guess such situations only happen when Dondon is in full throttle.

3. Fortunately for the team, the facilitator assigned to handle the group looks like Maui Taylor. Enough said.

2. The swimming part will always be important. Also, several slide shows were made including Dundee's decent from above.

At present the Commission of Elections is in the process of filtering the list of candidates and has started eliminating nuisance candidates. Becasue of my inherent nature to make predictions, I will list ten candidates who will likely be part of the new Senate.

10. Aquino..... Although he is not as charismatic as his father, Noynoy has his own share of upsides. Moreover, bringing in a young and qualified blood in the Senate will improve the tarnished institution.

9. Pangilinan..... In politics. having one of the most popular celebrity for a wife is a huge plus. Although Kiko has the credentials, his affinity with Sharon Cuneta will be the determinant of his success.

8. Angara..... This man is synonymous to to Philippine politics. Despite of his political preferences, he is still a tough dog and a sure bet in the senate.

7. Sotto..... His popularity is unquestionable being one of the anchors of the longest running show on television. In addition, he has done quite enough laws to separate him from his peers.

6. Villar..... The king of markets is also the richest politician. The resources will make him a formidable candidate this coming elections.

5. Legarda..... She has topped the senatorial race before and being on top again is a possibility. Losing the vice presidential race also gave her some valuable lessons.

4. Cayetano..... He has been the man of the hour and the most likely threat to the administration. Since the government is still in question, then Cayetano will likely be the one voted by the people to raise the queries.

3. Arroyo..... He is not a relative of the President. Despite of his age and size, this man represents the ideal senator.

2. Escudero..... The spokesperson of the opposition needs a place in the Senate. If he wins, then I can say that Filipinos are already intelligent voters.

Manny Pacquiao recently changed his direction from boxing to politics. Before his dramatic and phenomenal rise to fame, I used to see him in a boxing program called Blow by Blow. In that show, Pacquiao has demonstrated his power and sheer determination to succeed. Although I respect Pacquiao as a boxer, he appears to be highly overrated. I have more than enough reasons to justify my claim, and I will name the 10 most glaring realities.

10. Pacquiao never had a sterling amateur boxing career, which most of the greatest boxers had. It is evident in his techniques and basic foundations.

9. The resurgence of Pacquiao has to be credited to Freddie Roach. The world renowned trainer is highly responsible for whatever Pacquiao can do inside the ring.

8. Power and speed aside, the physical facets of Pacquiao is a major problem. Assuming that he will decide to move up in the weight classifications, his chances of winning will be slim.

7. In boxing patience is always a virtue. It is a pity that Pacquiao is easily overpowered by frustration when unable to connect.

6. Methodical and deliberate boxers can easily handle Pacquiao. Once his opponent realizes this, the Pacman is doomed. Just remember Juan Manuel Marquez.

I am a huge baseball fan and the upcoming season has given me that immesurable excitement. Aside from the games, fantasy baseball also opens it curtains to aficionados and occasional enthusiasts. Basically, this post is dedicated to the likely players I will pick when given the oppotunity to complete a 'dream team'. Although I am not an expert, my picks are based on performances and the ability of the players to deliver the necessary points.

10. David Ortiz (DH)..... For a player who hit 40+ HRs and 120+ RBIs, this slot is automatic. Aside from these stats, Ortiz is clutch and always perform consistently.

9. Ichiro Suzuki (OF)..... Despite of the recent slides, Ichiro is still one of the best lead-off hitters in the Majors. His batting percentage is superior, which means that power hitters will be motivated to play big.

8. Alfonso Soriano (OF)..... The guy has all the upsides to be a top fantasy player. Aside from the power, Soriano has the speed and can be designated as the No. hitter.

7. Vernon Wells (OF)..... This position is loaded with talented players. I picked Wells because he can be good at bat and consistently play well defensively.

6. Jose Reyes (SS)..... This Met dynamo is one of the up and coming stars of the league. Last year was a breakout and this year will be nothing less than phenomenal.

5. Alex Rodriguez (3B)..... The most talented and highest paid player in the league sure have issues. But one thing that favors ARod is his consistent delivery in the plate.

4. Chase Utley (2B)..... I consider Utley the most underrated player in the league. Last year, he had several hitting streaks that have great interest from both fans and media.

3. Albert Pujols (1B)..... The best fantasy team in incomplete without the best player in the league. For the past years, Pujols has been closely included in the MVP balloting and was clearly robbed last year.

2. Joe Mauer (C).... These days, a catcher with great hitting skills is a rare commodity. Although the position is demanding, Mauer responded by leading the league in batting average. The scary thing is that he has yet to reach his prime.

1. Johan Santana (SP).... There is only one word to describe this player; 'dominant'. At times his pitch can be hittable, but most of the time, his stuff is unbelievable.
